Charles St Bus Layover Monitor

A personal, self-hosted camera and noise-monitoring project.

This site supports a small personal project that watches a bus layover bay on Charles St using a fixed camera and microphone, measures bus traffic, idling time, and noise levels, and streams a live composited view (video, live stats overlay, and audio spectrum) 24/7 to a single YouTube channel for public viewing.

The project runs entirely on the developer's own hardware. A small set of automation scripts manage that one YouTube channel on the developer's behalf:

• Rotating the day's live broadcast at fixed times so each calendar day gets its own titled video, without interrupting the underlying stream;
• Updating each video's title, description, and thumbnail with current statistics (bus counts, noise levels);
• Posting periodic stats updates to the live chat;
• Checking the stream's health and automatically reconnecting it if it drops;
• Posting occasional explanatory comments (for example, noting a period when a sensor was offline).

All of this operates on the one YouTube channel that belongs to this project's own developer. It does not access, read, or act on any other person's YouTube account, channel, videos, or data.
